The Dean of University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) Prof. Justice N. Bawole has urged students to be conscious of their behaviour as they prepare to enter the corporate world.

According to him, since students are going to be the next level managers in the country, they must understand behaviour has consequences whilst government behaviour also has the same consequences.

He further urged them to be conscious of their behaviour irrespective of where they find themselves in life since attitudes and behaviour contribute to the growth and development of an individual.

The Dean of the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) Prof. Justice N. Bawole made the passionate call during an interview with the media at the 44th Management Week celebration held at the R. S Amegashie Auditorium, Legon, Accra.

The 44th Management Week celebration  June 3rd-7th, 2024 sponsored by Broadspectrum Ghana Limited aimed at consolidating on the theme, “Economic Resilience of Ghanaian Households and Businesses in an Era of DDEP” was instituted in 1971, where the UGBS community meets up with industry players to address pertinent issues.

This year’s 44th annual Management Week anniversary brought together Corporate Ghana to deliberate on issues relating to the theme of the one-week observation.

Observing the week-long event, a series of activities took place where achievements of the school were showcased along with what the School is doing, the input and contributions of the private sector, and the government in shaping the lives of students.

Broadspectrum Limited is a Ghanaian information and communication technology company that plays a key role in the technological industry.

Speaking further, The Dean admonished “So, if you find yourself in business, in government, you should know what behaviour you will take. If they are in business and are going to be managing a business, they should understand that there can be shocks, there can be unexpected circumstances that can hit businesses and so, when that happens what do you do”.

For him, students need to know that, the corporate world out there is not as smooth as they see it, therefore there is a need for them to build enough resilience as well as gather enough tools that would enable them to function and enhance their skills and potentials as they become managers and heads of institutions.

“In the case of a debt restructuring program, businesses, individuals, and households surfers significantly. The expectation that people have for their income, that they have invested in different government bonds and instruments, are suffering”, he asserted.

Adding “And so, people’s expectation of returns for their livelihoods got hit. Unfortunately, there have been conventions about how government itself is constrained but, we often do not talk about the impact of this on households and private businesses”.

The University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) is a premier business school in the sub-region focused on developing world-class human resources and capabilities to meet national development needs and global challenges, through quality teaching, learning, research, and knowledge dissemination.
