In his quest to ensure Ghana becomes one of the clean African country, the President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has cut sod for commencement of the Eastern Solid waste Treatment Facility situated at Effiduase in the Eatern region of Ghana.
Speaking at the sod cutting ceremony on Thursday at Effiduase in Koforidua, President Akufo Addo indicated that, the project is being replicated in all the 16 regions of the country.
Emphasizing that, it is his commitment and vision to ensure that all the sixteen regions will benefit from this project inorder to mitigate the indiscriminate disposal of refuse in the country.
The President used the ocassion to commend the Executive Chairman of Zoomlion Dr. Joseph Siaw Agyapong for his numerous visionary projects.
“What we are witnessing here, I have followed it from Accra, Bono region, Western region, Bono East region, Ahafo Western north and Kumasi”, Akufo Addo asserted.
Adding ” So we need to thank Mr. Joseph Agyapong Chairman and MD of Zoomlion for all these projects”.
According to the President, it is as a result of the commitment of Zoomlion Chief for these projects that his government is also supporting his business to succeed.
He later charged the company to expedite action on the projects adding that “we pray that you replicate it in all the 16 regions so that Ghana can be the cleanest city in Africa”.
Meanwhike, the President has already cut sod in the following regions Western,Bono East, Bono, Ahafo, Western North for the construction of the Solid waste treatment Facility which help in mobilising filth.
Zoomlion Ghana Limited, leading waste management company in the country will construct an ultramodern Solid waste treatment Facility in the Eastern Eegion.
The people of Ashanti Region on the 28th of September, 2020 witnessed a colourful occasion when the largest Compost and Recycling plant in Africa was officially commissioned for operations.
Thanking the President for such a laudable project,the Effiduahene, Okoawia Dwomo Baabu II who doubles up as the Nifahene of New Juaben Traditional Area acknowledged that, when it comes to Ghanaina politics, and issue of good governance, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo has no political class mate.
To him, anyone who have lived around 1949 coming, no one can compare the President to any other person in this country.
Citing the sod cutting for the construction of Regoinal Hospital at Effiduase as well as the construction of Integrated Compost and Recycling Plant in our land again.
“All the areas that the President made promises during 2016 electioneering, he has touch sector of the economy and that shows he is a good leader”, he remarked.
“Your policies and programs are non comparable to any political figure in the country,” Nana Baabu stated.
On her part, the Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources, Madam Cecilia Abena Dapaah bemoaned the indiscriminate disposal of waste in the county and advised the citizenry to be responsible in the disposal of waste.
She said the project, when completed would separate solid, liquid and organic waste and process them to produce fertilizers and rubber products.
Madam Cecilia Dapaah therefore appealed to all and sundry to be sanitation inclined inorder to promote healthy living.
The Executive Chairman of Jospong Group of Companies, Dr. Joseph Siaw Agyapong disclosed that the project, when completed would create 75 direct jobs and 250 indirect jobs.
Dr. Agyapong later assured the President that the project would be completed in four (4) months time as requested by the President.
The Eastern Solid waste treatment facility when completed will have facilities like cafeteria, administration block, lecture halls, clinic, and other auxiliary facilities.
The project would also process waste into renewable use when completed.
When completed, the facility would receive waste from municipalities including New Juaben North and South, Effiduase, Suhum, Abuakwa North and South, Yilo Krobo, Koforidua, Okere and others.
This means that the facility has the capability to meet all the waste management needs of the people of Koforidua and beyond.
