The President, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has showerd praises on the Executive Chairman of Jospong Group of Companies, Dr. Joseph Siaw Agyapong for his visionary projects in the waste management industry across the country.
According to the President, Dr. Joseph Siaw Agyepong has distinquished himself to be a result oriented leader who has Ghana at heart and always want to contribute his quota to the development and growth of the country especially in the waste management sector.
As a country, these are the kind of personalities we need to support the vision and policies of government in ensuring our country is clean, hence attractive for investment both locally and foreign.
Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo made these passionate remarks suring the Sod Cutting ceremony of the Eastern Solid Waste Treatment Facility situated at Effiduase in the Eastern Region of Ghana.
Such facility are been replicated in all the sixteen (16) regions across the country as a way to mitigate the filth and poor management of waste especially plastics.
Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo used the ocassion to thank the chiefs and queenmothers for releasing their land for the construction of the waste treatment facility and assured them of government committment and readiness to develop the New Juaben Traditional Area.
Therefore called on them to retain him in power come December 7th general elections to continue the good works he and the NPp government has started.
Welcoming the President, the Executive Chairman of Jospong Group of Companies, Dr. Joseph Siaw Agyapong indicated that, the project will be completed in four month time and will employ hundreds of the youth within the New Juaben Traditional Area.
Furthermore, the ZoomLion Chief pointed out that, the Waste Treatment Facility is to compliment the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo vision to make Ghana one of the clean countries on the Africa continent.
The Waste Treatment Facility he said will recycle the waste into fitilzers for farmers to have enough to grow more crops to support the government Planting for Food project whilst the plastic waste will be melted to serve as raw materials to manufacturers of plastics.
This, he believes will encourage more people to venture into plastic manufacturing since raw materials will be locally available at an affordable price, hence champion the President One Factory, One District initiative.
Adding, “upon completion, the facility will offer 75 direct jobs while 250 epople will be indirectly engaged, hence in total about 325 persons will earn a descent income.
On her part, Cecillia Abena Dapaah, Minister for Sanitation encouraged the young people in the New Juaben Traditional Area to take advantage of this project and earn a descent income to enhance their standard of living.
Inaddition, they should ensure they partake in the activities of the project for they are stakeholders in smooth running of the facility when completed.
When completed, the facility would receive waste from municipalities including New Juaben North and South, Effiduase, Suhum, Abuakwa North and South, Yilo Krobo, Koforidua, Okere and others.
This means that the facility has the capability to meet all the waste management needs of the people of Koforidua and beyond.
