Ghanaian workers of the Chinese company constructing the Pokuase Interchange are currently protesting over non payment of their salaries.
The workers numbering over 200 have blocked the blocked the main Pokuase -Kumasi road thereby creating huge traffic on that stretch of the road.
A Spokesperson for the group of workers, Mr. Ebenezer Takyi told senaradioonline.com in an interview that the workers are marked a daily wage of gh22.00 as opposed to huge amount paid to their expatriate counterparts.
As if that meagre payment is not enough Mr. Takyi said the company owes them an accumulated two years arrears, a situation that precipitated the protest.
It would be recalled that erstwhile Mahama regime signed the contract for the Pokuase interchange but the NPP government touts the multi-million dollar project as one of its top most achievements but with the emergence of this protest at this cagey electioneering moments, it is likely to affect the fortunes of the Akufo Addo government.
