Head coach of Real Tamale United, Shaibu Tanko has vowed to stop Hearts of Oak in their final first round clash.
The Premier League returnees host the defending league champions on Sunday at the Aliu Mahama Stadium in week 17 of the 2021-22 Ghana Premier League season.
Real Tamale United started their season with mixed results – earning seven points from their first five opening matches of the season.
Their biggest loss of the season was in week 4 when two time champions, Aduana Stars recorded a 5-1 scoreline past them at the Nana Agyemang Badu Park.
The premier league returnees have so far collected a paltry four points from a possible 15 in their last five games of the season.
They recorded a 2-0 loss at the Baba Yara Stadium in week 16 to King Faisal which left many asking questions about coach Tanko’s abilities.
The former Hearts of Oak coach has however assured the club’s following of much better results in the second round.
He is confident that will start with a win over Hearts of Oak in the last first round game at the Aliu Mahama Stadium.
“It’s going to be a different ball game in the second round because all these teams who have beaten us, I don’t see them to be teams that can really stand the test of time especially in Tamale.” Shaibu Tanko told StarTimes.
The “Pride of the North” made a return to the top flight after 13-years of hibernation in Division One League.
They currently sit 12th on the league table with 19 points from 16 matches and will host defending champions, Hearts of Oak in the last game of the first round at the Aliu Mahama Stadium in Tamale on Sunday, February 13.
