Head coach of Asante Kotoko, Prosper Narteh Ogum has responded to calls by Hearts of Oak board member, Dr.Nyaho Tamakloe for him to be named Black Stars head coach.
The senior national male team was without a coach for a period following the exit of Serbian trainer, Milovan Rajevac after a poor 2021 AFCON outing in Cameroon.
Several names popped up from all quarters as candidates for the biggest coaching job in Ghana but Dr. Nyaho Tamakloe, a former Football Association president named Prosper Narteh as his preferred choice.
Prosper Narteh in a reply after their 3-1 thumping of Accra Lions in the final first round game of the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League said: “I think probably he [Dr.Nyaho Tamakloe] sat from afar, he has seen what I’m doing and per his astuteness I mean we know him to be following football over decades as a seasoned football administrator.
“So I think per his experience and per what he is seeing about me and being there as a former FA president and with the Black Stars and knowing what the dynamics of what goes into the Black Stars, probably that is what is making him to take that informed decision about me.” Prosper Narteh told StarTimes.
The Ghana FA and the Sports Ministry held a meeting org the latter calling for the review of the then Milovan Rajevac led technical team and the reconstitution of the management committee.
The four time African champions have since settled on Irish born of Ghanaian descent, Chris Hughton as the Technical Advisor with ex-Ghana international, Otto Addo as head coach.
The Borussia Dortmund scout will be assisted by former Asante Kotoko coach, Mas Ud Didi Dramani, ex-Dutch international, George Boateng and Stephen Appiah who skippered Ghana to the 2006 and the 2010 World Cups in Germany and South Africa.
The Black Stars have a tough test of fighting to pick a slot at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar later this with their final phase of the qualifier in March.
Ghana first boat West African rivals, Nigeria in the first on March 24 at the Cape Coast Stadium with the second leg billed for the Moshood Abiola Stadium three days later.
