Hearts of Oak have a cause to worry about their scoring abilities in the last few games of the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League season.
The defending league champions have scored just a single goal in their last four matches enroute to the end of the first round with a week seven outstanding clash against arch rivals, Asante Kotoko on February 20 in Accra.
The Phobians have only managed one win, a draw and two defeats in their last four games much to the disappointment of the club’s faithfuls.
They suffered a 1-0 loss at Anyinase against Karela United in week 14 before returning to earn a solitary 1-0 victory over King Faisal at the Accra Sports Stadium in week 15.
They were pegged back by a goal in the Accra derby last weekend by regional rivals, Great Olympics at the Accra Sports Stadium in 16 before a journey up North to the Aliu Mahama Stadium ended goalless against premier league returnees, Real Tamale United in week 17.
Coach Samuel Boadu cannot help but admit to worries over his side’s scoring drought. “Being a coach, is a worry to me because when you get such a chance and you misuse it, when the opponent gets the same chance, he will use it to punish you.
“I will congratulate the boys and the technical team for the information that they gave me.
“I hope my boys did well but we have more room to improve.” Samuel Boadu told StarsTimes.
Hearts of Oak, the treble winners from last season have collected just 24 points this term trailing rivals, Asante Kotoko by a whopping 12 points.
The two will clash on Sunday, February 20 to determine whether Kotoko will go 15 clear points off the 21 time title holders and nine better than second place Bechem United or Hearts of Oak will put brakes on Kotoko to bridge the points gap.
The Phobians are 8th on the league log with 24 points from 16 games.
