A final year student of the University of Ghana (UG), Ms. Candy Debbon Amankwa has been crowned Miss Galaxy Ghana 2023 at the 7th edition of the beauty pageant held in Accra.
The twenty One year old Public Administration student displayed a sense of passion and willingness to contribute towards the attainment of clean environment as well as ensuring proper disposal of waste materials by educating young ones in the various lower and upper primaries across the country.
This year beauty pageant saw six beautiful, eloquent, and articulate young ladies displaying their respective skills, knowledge and ways they believe can address the numerous challenges in the waste management sector across the country.
Speaking at the beauty pageant finale on behalf of Mrs. Jamillah Ghartey, Senior Monitoring and Service Quality Officer at Zoomlion Ghana Limited (JGL) urged the contestants to continue the fight against harmful environmental practices in the country.
According to her, it will help the numerous campaigns by government and Zoomlion Ghana Limited , hence making Ghana, one of the cleanest country in Africa.
Mrs. Jamillah Ghartey made this passionate appeal when she represented Mrs. Gloria Opoku Anti, Managing Director of Zoomlion Ghana Limited at the Grand Finale of the 11th beauty pageant, Miss Galaxy Ghana organised by EduEnter Group Ghana in Accra.
She further reiterated that, “it’s the responsibility of the citizenry to champion the course of ensuring our communities, our cities, hence the desire of the beauty queens is in the right direction and needs to be supported by all and sundry.
Indicating that, Zoomlion Ghana Limited, as one of the leading expert in sanitation and waste management is willing to partner the contestants to implement their unique and creative ideas aimed at promoting good environmental practices.
To her, Miss Galaxy Ghana beauty pageant is a good platform ZGL values the project focuses on empowering young beautiful ladies to become influential actors in the fight against environmental practices.
“We believe when our human resources are empowered, the well being of everyone is affected which goes a long way to improve socio-economic of the country.
On her part, Miss Ms. Candy Debbon Amankwa indicated that, she will ensure that, she join hands with Zoomlion, Districts, Municipality Assemblies and other relevant stakeholders in the waste management sector to inform and educate the populan e the importance of proper disposal of waste.
And also how best these waste can be recycled to provide some revenues to enhance their socio-economic lives.
Ms. Ms. Candy Debbon Amankwa therefore urged her fellow contestants to come on board to contribute to this course.
The six beauty queens all pledged to use their platforms to support 1 million waste bins distribution nationwide project by Zoomlion Ghana Limited.
This they will promote good health, promotes tourism, hence more revenue for developmental works in the country.
The First Runner Up was Ohenewaa Elizabeth Piesah, a twenty three years old student at the Nursing and Midwifery Training College, Pantang who also won the Miss Talent award of the day.
The Second Runner Up was Esther Eyonam Torma, a twenty three years old student at University of Ghana who also won Miss Eloquent award.
And the Third Runner Up was Mariam Ahmed, a twenty four years old, a former student of IPMC College of Technology who also won Miss Elegant award.
Present was 2022 Miss Galaxy Ghana and her Runner Ups, as well as other beauty pageant queens and other prominent personalities in the industry.
