The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) is set to begin the vetting of its presidential aspirants today, Monday, July 3, 2023.
According to a statement by Evans Nimako, the Secretary to the party’s National Presidential Vetting Committee, the exercise will take place over a four (4) day period and end on Thursday, July 6, 2023.
A total of ten individuals have submitted their presidential nomination forms to compete for the party’s ticket. However, that number is expected to be reduced to five to streamline the election process.
The first batch of presidential hopefuls scheduled to face the vetting committee today includes Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanten, the former Minister of Trade, Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, and Kwadwo Poku.
On Tuesday, July 4, the vetting committee will interview the former Energy Minister Boakye Kyeremanteng Agyarko, former General Secretary Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, and Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, Member of Parliament for Assin Central.
Dr Kofi Konadu Apraku, former Minister of Agriculture Dr Owusu Afriyie, and Joe Ghartey, Member of Parliament for the Essikado-Ketan Constituency, will have their turn on Wednesday, July 5, 2023.
To conclude the vetting process, Francis Addai-Nimako, the former Mampong Member of Parliament, will be vetted on Thursday.
