The Executive Republic of Lagos State, His Excellency Babajide Sanwo-Olu has released aw letter of appreciation to the Presidency on the completion of the Third Mainland Bridge repairs.
The 11.8 km long bridge had been under partial closure due to repair works being carried out by the federal government.
Operations have now fully resumed on one of the longest flyovers in Africa with the state Governor showing his satisfaction at the project.
The Governor extended gratitude to the presidency, the Ministry of Works, and the Lagos State government for their traffic management during the whole of the exercise.
The major link bridge between Lagos Mainland and Lagos Island has suffered serious damage in large areas before the intervention of the federal government who have now completed repair works for the smooth access of commuters on the road.
“Dear Lagosians,
I am pleased to announce the full reopening of the Third Mainland Bridge after extended repair works have been completed to ensure its safety and efficiency for all residents. Your patience and resilience during this period have been paramount in maintaining our city’s economic momentum.” The Governor wrote on his official social media handle.
“I extend my deepest gratitude to HE President @officialABAT and the Honourable Minister of Works, David Umahi for their expedited focus and attention to detail on the Third Mainland Bridge project. Their commitment has significantly contributed to the timely and quality completion of these necessary improvements.”
“My thanks also go to the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation for their effective traffic management throughout this period. Their dedication has minimized disruptions and maintained flow, demonstrating our collective strength and ability to overcome challenges.
“As we embrace the smoother journeys that the newly renovated bridge provides, it also calls for a renewed emphasis on road safety. Our shared commitment to safety ensures not only our well-being but also the well-being of other road users.

Lagos State is the commercial capital of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the easy access of commuters in one of the most congested cities in the world has been restored by the completion of the project which lasted a few weeks.
