Ursula Foundation Launched…To Bridge The Gap In Vocational Training And Entrepreneurship

To contribute towards the empowerment of young people, especially girls and women, the Minister of Communications and Digitalization, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, launched her foundation, the Ursula Foundation, in Accra on June 22, 2024.

The Foundation aims to give back to the community by helping individuals develop vocational, digital, and other practical skills to gain knowledge and excel in the various sectors of the economy.

According to the Communications and Digitalization Minister who doubles up as the Member of Parliament for Ablekuma West Constituency in Greater Accra Region the foundation will also provide credit facilities and apprenticeships for persons who want to venture into entrepreneurship.

“The Foundation is dedicated to serving the people of Ablekuma West and beyond through community development, youth, and women empowerment”, she reiterated.

She further explained that, though she is the MP on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party, the foundation Ursula Foundation is non-political and is open to everyone in the Ablekuma West constituency and beyond.

In the quest to provide vocational and ICT skills to young girls and women, she revealed the foundation has partnered with the New Century Vocational Training Institute and the Ghana Code Club to achieve its objectives.

Some of the subjects to be offered by the Ursula Foundation include but are not limited to the  Introduction to Entrepreneurship and Career Development, Information Technology and Digital Skills (including coding), Creative Arts and Media, Financial Literacy and Business Management, Communication and Interpersonal Skills, Internship and Practical Experience

The rest are  Career Counselling and Guidance, Backyard Gardening and Agribusiness, Healthcare and Well-being, Hospitality and Tourism, Renewable Energy and Sustainable Development and Construction and Infrastructure.
