The main opposition party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) leadership has to Summon the Central Region Executives Over the Unlawful Withdrawal of the Assin Central Parliamentary Candidate.

The summon of the Central Region Functional Executive Committee to appear before the party’s national leadership is to respond to the unlawful withdrawal of Nurein Shaibu Migyimah as the party’s parliamentary candidate for Assin Central Constituency.

According to a letter signed by the party General Secretary, Hon Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, the regional committee’s decision to withdraw Migyimah’s candidacy without the approval of the National Executive Committee is considered a violation of the party’s constitution and due process.

The letter, circulating on social media, purportedly from the Regional Secretariat, communicated the decision to the Constituency Chairman and Secretary, sparking concerns among party members.

The national leadership has deemed the action “inappropriate” and “contravening articles 40, 41, 46, and 48 of the NDC constitution.”

Consequently, the Regional Chairman and Secretary have been requested to appear before the National Leadership on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at 2 pm to explain the circumstances surrounding the letter’s issuance without the necessary approval.

This development highlights the party’s commitment to upholding its constitution and ensuring that decisions are made through the proper channels. The outcome of this meeting may have significant implications for the party’s internal dynamics and the fate of Migyimah’s candidacy.
