The flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has criticised the former President and flag bearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, for running away from a presidential debate.

According to the Vice President, John Mahama is avoiding the debate with him because he has no legacy to point out to Ghanaians during his tenure as president.

He says, the former president cannot point to a single policy that he implemented to improve the lot of Ghanaians.

Dr. Bawumia was speaking to party faithful in the Akatsi North constituency as part of his campaign tour to the Volta Region.

“Come for a debate, let us do a debate he will not come, he run away, he run away like small chicken’s he run away he cannot come. Because he cannot point to one policy, I can point to thirty three different policies that I have brought to government, he cannot point to one,” he stated.

He urged the gathering to choose him over Mahama since his achievements as Vice President are more than what Mahama did as President.

“So, the choice in 2024 is between Dr Bawumia and the former President but I have already shown even as Vice President I have done more than him and therefore I will do more than him as president of the Republic of Ghana.

“If you vote for him, he can only be President for four years. He will not have to come back to Akasti North to give you an account. For me if you vote for me, I can be president for eight years. In four years time, I will come back here and give you an account of what I have done. If you vote for Dr. Bawumia you are going to get a brand new tear rubber president,” he added.

He also assured that he comes with new ideas that will better the lives of the people unlike Mahama who lacks ideas to transform the economy.

“New ideas, new vision and big solutions. If we go and bring back the former president then we are going to get a second president,” he said.
