In a bid to boost transparency and accountability in public sector financial management, the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, has issued a directive to all heads of government institutions to provide detailed staff information for employees added to their payrolls since December 7, 2024.

The directive aims to ensure the accuracy and integrity of government payroll records, a key objective of the John Mahama administration. By requiring institutions to submit specific staff details, the government seeks to eliminate ghost names from the payroll and prevent financial leakages.

Key Requirements for Institutions

Heads of institutions must submit the following details for each staff member added to the payroll since December 7, 2024:

– Full Name
– Designation/Job Title
– Employee Identification Number (if applicable)
– Date of Appointment
– Date Added to Payroll

The deadline for submission is January 31, 2025. Institutions are encouraged to seek clarification if needed, and support will be provided throughout the process.

This initiative is part of a broader government strategy to optimize public sector financial management. By promoting transparency and accountability, the government aims to ensure that public resources are utilized efficiently and effectively.

“Your cooperation in this important matter is highly appreciated,” Mr Debrah noted, underscoring the significance of the exercise in curbing payroll-related inefficiencies.

Additionally, the letter encourages institutions to seek further clarification if needed, assuring them that support will be provided throughout the process.

Stakeholders are urged to comply with the directive promptly to enhance payroll accuracy and prevent any financial leakages.
