Unimpeachable information stumbled upon by your authoritative Newsflashafrica.com indicates that the Director General of Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC), Prof. Amin Alhassan, and the Acting Director of TV, Akushika Aquaye are promoting pro-NPP staff at the corporation to the chagrin of the majority of the staff and union leaders.
According to sources, promotion of these pro-NPP staff most of whom are juniors to the deserving senior staff has brought about heightened acrimony amongst staff and rank and file.
The smoking gun, argues that the gerrymandering and the scheming begun in the run up to the 2024 elections where a meeting with the Pro NPP staff was held with the DG and Akushika Aquaye in attendance to do the bidding of Dr. Bawumiah to win the December elections.
The deep throat source added that following that meeting, the Head of of News Television, Nii Odartey Lamptey a fine gentleman and competent Journalist was suddenly reshuffled without basis and replaced by Akushika Aquaye making her double as the acting Director of TV and Head of News TV at the same time, a situation which is Novel in the history of the state broadcaster.
This decision which was a coup de grace was well organized, stage managed and well executed ostensibly to suppress the publicity of John Mahama to the advantage of their favourite Candiadate, Dr. Bawumia.
We are reliably informed that the Head of the GBC Online was also reshuffled similarly in the run-up to the elections and replaced by a junior staff Michael Agodua, who is a social media executive.
Recently the Director General , in cahoots with Akushika Acquaye, according to our sources has promoted Peggy Ama Donkor, a known NPP sympathizer to the General Manager, GTV main, a very sensitive position reserved for seniors with deep technical know how.
This recent appointment has got people talking on the 5acre premises of GBC to the extent every 3 people you see in a group, are discussing this indiscretional peccadillo by the DG and Akushika Aquaye.
Many of the staff are wondering why the NDC government would allow such a grand scheme of promoting pro-NPP staff to continue doing the bidding of the NPP.
A strong case is mounted by one of the sources who said the current NPP- inclined leadership of GBC gave a wide publicity to Minority MPs’ demonstrations/ protest in Parliament and even brought the Minority Leader in the studios to come and “open more fire” on the issues.
The source indicated he doubts that the NDC in Minority would have gotten that same platform offered the NPP MPs.
They are therefore serving notice to the NDC Government to quickly intervene and reverse all the machinations orchestrated and sanitize the system at GBC.
