Ghana is set to mark its 68th Independence Anniversary on March 6, 2025, with a series of activities designed to commemorate the nation’s historic journey.
The National Celebrations Planning Committee (NCPC) has outlined a lineup of events, including historical commemorations, educational competitions, and a grand ceremonial parade, designed to engage citizens, particularly the youth, in national history and patriotism.
The celebrations will kick off with a wreath-laying ceremony at the Nationalism Park on February 28, 2025, to honour the memory of three ex-servicemen who were shot while protesting for their rights in 1948.
Other key events include nationwide school quiz and debate competitions, aimed at promoting knowledge and understanding of Ghana’s history and cultural heritage.
Secondly, a President’s School Children Awards Programme will recognize and reward outstanding students who have demonstrated exceptional academic achievement and community service.
And a ceremonial parade at the forecourt of the Presidency on March 6, 2025, which will feature marching bands, cultural performances, and a keynote address by the President.
The government has expressed optimism about the nation’s progress, with Madam Shamima Muslim stating, “Our reset agenda is in motion, and everything will work out for our collective good.”
The celebrations aim to foster national unity and development as Ghana commemorates its independence.
The public is encouraged to stay tuned for updates and actively participate in the activities.
The NCPC has also announced plans to engage with the public through social media, using the hashtag #GhanaAt68, to share updates, photos, and stories about the celebrations.
