Ghana Water Ltd (GWL) has taken a significant step towards strengthening its financial oversight by inaugurating a new Audit Committee.
The committee, which is in line with the Public Financial Management (PFM) Act, 2016 (Act 921), will play a crucial role in promoting transparency, accountability, and good governance within the organization.
The five-member committee, chaired by Hon. Gladys Gillian Naadu Tetteh, will be responsible for overseeing the implementation of internal and external audit recommendations.

This will ensure that GWL is compliant with relevant laws and policies, and that its financial reporting processes are transparent and accurate.
Other key responsibilities of the committee include the monitoeing of GWL’s financial reporting processes to ensure that they are accurate, reliable, and transparent.
Secondly, the committee will ensure that GWL is compliant with relevant laws and policies, including the PFM Act.
As well as advise GWL’s management on risk management and internal control systems.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by key stakeholders, including Mr. Adam Mutawakilu, Managing Director of GWL, and Dr. Eric Oduro Osae, Director-General of the Internal Audit Agency (IAA).

Mr. Mutawakilu emphasized the importance of the committee’s role in promoting transparency and accountability within GWL.
He reiterated the company’s commitment to good governance and its determination to ensure that its financial management systems are robust and transparent.
Dr. Osae administered the official induction and charged the committee to proactively support management in implementing audit recommendations.
He emphasized the importance of the committee’s role in strengthening GWL’s internal control systems and ensuring that its financial management systems are compliant with relevant laws and policies.
The five-member committee is composed of experienced professionals with expertise in finance, auditing, and governance.
The members are Hon. Gladys Gillian Naadu Tetteh (Chairperson), Mr. Kwame Boafo, Mrs. Adelaide Ahwireng, Mr. Eric Nana Osei and Mr. Samuel A. Addai.
