The Transport Minister Jospeh Bukari Nikpe made these statement in an interview at the inauguration of Inter-Agency Review Committee for the Review of L.I 2180 for the Commercialization of Motor and Teicycle held on 18th March, 2025 at Accra.

The amendment aims to allow motorcycles and tricycles to operate as fee-paying services in the transport industry. However, the fixing of fees and charges will be done through negotiation with stakeholders.

The Transport Minister assured the general public that the amendment will be tailored to suit Ghanaian conditions, rather than simply adopting practices from other countries.

This move is expected to provide opportunities for young people to earn a living using motorcycles and tricycles, while also improving the overall transportation system in Ghana.
