Time for Action: Paramount Chief Calls for Urgent Resolution of Boundary Issues

The Paramount Chief of Yilo Krobo, Okpleme Nuer Annorbaa Sasraku II, has called for urgent attention to regional and district boundary issues in Ghana.

During the 2025 Annual General Meeting and Seminar of the Licensed Surveyors Association of Ghana (LiSAG) held on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at the LiSAG House, the traditional ruler urged LiSAG and government agencies to implement the recommendations from the 2021 technical report on district boundary issues.

The Licensed Surveyors Association of Ghana (LiSAG) is a professional organization representing licensed surveyors in the country.

In his address, Chief Sasraku II emphasized the need for LiSAG members to adopt innovative approaches, foster collaboration, and promote sustainability.

He stated, “Resolving boundary disputes is crucial for promoting peaceful coexistence, driving sustainable development, and enhancing economic growth.”

He affirmed the vital role that traditional leaders play in driving development in Ghana, saying, “We must work together to resolve boundary disputes and promote sustainable development.”

The Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs, Ahmed Ibrahim, highlighted the importance of mapping to eliminate disaster-prone areas.

In a speech delivered by Dr. Yeboah on his behalf, the minister stressed the significance of using elevation profiles and proactive disaster-integrated strategies to prevent disasters.

Dr. Yeboah emphasized the critical role licensed surveyors play in shaping Ghana’s future, noting that their contributions to land use planning, urban development, and environmental assessment are invaluable.

He encouraged LiSAG to explore economic opportunities and benefits through mapping and innovative technologies.

The minister concluded, “Traditional leaders, government agencies, and professional associations must work together to advance progress on critical development issues.”

Chief Okpleme Nuer Annorbaa Sasraku II’s call to action has been welcomed by stakeholders who recognize the essential role of traditional leaders in promoting development and transformation within their communities.
