Former Member of Parliament Francis Manu-Adabor has urged surveyors to harness technology to drive urban transformation and economic growth in Ghana, emphasizing the critical role that accurate data plays in shaping the country’s development landscape.
Speaking at the 6th Annual General Meeting of the Licensed Surveyors Association of Ghana (LiSAG) held in Accra on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, Manu-Adabor highlighted that technology has become an indispensable tool in the surveying profession.
It enables surveyors to collect, process, and analyze data more efficiently and accurately.
The AGM and Seminar provided a platform for members to discuss industry trends, share knowledge, and network with peers.
He pointed out that accurate data is essential for urban planning, decision-making, and investment, stressing that surveyors have a vital role in providing the necessary data to facilitate Ghana’s urban transformation and economic growth.
Manu-Adabor further explained that base maps serve as a foundation for urban development, planning, decision-making, and investment frameworks.
He encouraged surveyors to leverage technology—including geographic information systems (GIS), remote sensing, and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs)—to enhance their work and contribute to the country’s development.
The President of LiSAG, Surveyor Ing. Samuel Larbi Darko, emphasized the significant role that licensed surveyors play in shaping Ghana’s built environment and ensuring sustainable development.
He noted that the work of licensed surveyors has a direct impact on communities, economies, and the environment.
Ing. Darko expressed pride in leading the association and acknowledged the significant progress achieved in its operations.
He mentioned that the association recently underwent a constitutional review, which included changes to its election processes, with new executive elections scheduled for March 27, 2025.
