Bright Steps International School (BSI) has officially opened its new campus in Accra, aiming to enhance inclusive and transformative education in Ghana.

The institution will serve as a center of innovation, welcoming and celebrating children with autism, developmental delays, and diverse learning profiles.

During the event last Friday, 25th April, 2025 in Accra, the Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Ms. Grace A. Nkrumah, articulated that ‘Bright Steps was conceived from a profound yet simple vision: to establish a nurturing and inclusive environment where every child, regardless of being neurotypical or neurodiverse, can flourish, learn, and succeed.’

She emphasized that the school was founded to create a supportive atmosphere for both neurotypical and neurodiverse children, ensuring that all students, whether they experience typical brain development or variations such as autism, have the opportunity to learn and grow.

Ms. Nkrumah also expressed her appreciation to all stakeholders who have contributed to the school’s vision and development, crediting its achievements to the commitment of its staff and the backing of families, while promising to uphold high standards of care and inclusive education.

The Inspector General of Schools from the National Schools Inspectorate Authority, Prof. Azeko Tahiru Salifu, who represented the Minister of Education, Mr. Haruna Iddrisu, praised the school for exemplifying the principles of innovation, diversity, and inclusivity, which are central to Ghana’s educational goals.

He observed that this initiative is in complete harmony with the Ministry’s vision to guarantee that every learner, irrespective of their learning needs or capabilities, is included, and it highlights the government’s commitment to supporting initiatives that foster inclusivity.

Furthermore, he noted that, the school’s curriculum combines the Cambridge curriculum with early Montessori education and early intervention strategies for learners with autism, as well as programs for gifted students.
