In a pioneering effort, the National Council of Parent-Teacher Associations (NCPTA) has collaborated with Celltell Networks Ltd. to introduce the “Bridging the Divide” initiative, a digital education program at Awudome Senior High School located in Tsito, Volta Region.
This program, held on Monday, May 5, 2025, at the school’s premises, aims to provide free WiFi internet access and distribute smart devices, including laptops, tablets, and Android phones, to students.
The initiative is designed to close the digital divide and equip students with essential skills to excel in a technology-oriented environment.
The NCPTA is an organization that brings together parent-teacher associations from schools across Ghana, aiming to promote collaboration between parents, teachers, and students to enhance the quality of education in the country.
Celltell Networks is a Ghanaian Internet Service Provider (ISP) that offers affordable, high-speed nationwide Wi-Fi and wireless internet services.
In an interview with the media, Mr. Christian Aikins Atsu, the National President of NCPTA, stated that this initiative will significantly enhance the educational experience by allowing students to access online resources, conduct research, and maintain communication with their educators and peers.
According to him, the NCPTA is committed to enhancing education for all Ghanaian students. “That’s why we’re thrilled to partner with Celltell Networks on the ‘Bridging the Divide’ initiative,” he affirmed.

Mr. Atsu further emphasized the importance of access to quality education, indicating that “Every student deserves the opportunity to succeed, regardless of their background or location.
Adding “By providing digital tools and resources, we can help level the playing field and ensure that all students have an equal chance to thrive.”

Emphasizing the potential of the initiative to empower students, the NCPTA Chairman remarked, “With access to smart devices and internet connectivity, students will be able to access a wealth of educational resources, conduct research, and connect with teachers and peers. This will open up new opportunities for learning and growth.”
Mr. Atsu expressed gratitude to Celltell Networks for their partnership, saying, “We’re grateful for the support of Celltell Networks and look forward to continuing our collaboration. Together, we can make a real difference in the lives of Ghanaian students and shape the future of education in our country.”

On his part, Dr. Prince Kofi Kludjeson, Chairman of Celltell Networks Ltd., indicated that “At Celltell Networks, we believe that every student deserves access to quality education, regardless of their background or location. That’s why we’re proud to partner with the NCPTA to launch the ‘Bridging the Divide’ initiative.”
Dr. Kludjeson highlighted the importance of digital literacy in today’s world. “In an increasingly technology-driven world, digital skills are essential for success. By providing students with access to smart devices and internet connectivity, we’re empowering them with the tools they need to thrive.”
He expressed confidence that the initiative would have a lasting impact on the students and the community. “We’re not just providing devices; we’re opening doors to new opportunities.

Dr. Kludjeson emphasized the need for continued support and collaboration, adding, “We urge other organizations and individuals to join us in this effort. Together, we can make a real difference in the lives of Ghanaian students and shape a brighter future for our country.”

The headmaster, Mr. Courage Meteku, expressed his appreciation to both the NCPTA and Celltell Networks, assuring that the school would take good care of the provided devices.
He remarked that this initiative represents a crucial advancement in fostering digital literacy and ensuring equitable access to educational resources.
“The ‘Bridging the Divide’ initiative will have a significant impact on our students’ learning experiences,” he noted.
Mr. Meteku also highlighted the potential benefits of the initiative, reiterating that “With access to digital tools and resources, our students will be able to engage more effectively with the curriculum, develop critical thinking skills, and prepare themselves for success in an increasingly digital world.”
He believes this marks a new era for the school, as students will be exposed to numerous opportunities.
“This is a new era for our school, one in which our students will have the digital tools and resources they need to thrive. We’re eager to see the positive impact this will have on our students’ academic performance and personal development.”
