Accra, Ghana – Baroness Mrs. Mavis Leonards, Chief Executive Officer of Global Sky Security and Executive Director for Mavis Inspires, has emphasized the importance of nurturing children in technology from a young age to enable them to compete on a global scale.

Speaking about the need for tech education at the African Youth Summit held in Accra, Mrs. Leonards highlighted the significance of adapting to the ever-evolving technological landscape.

She noted that today’s children are more in tune with technology than ever before, and it’s essential to harness this potential.

“The children we are raising today are more attuned and evolved when it comes to technology,” she stated.

“It is our responsibility as parents to nurture them from a young age so they can compete in a global marketplace.”

Additionally, Mrs. Mavis Leonards stressed the need for parents to regulate screen time and ensure that children use technology for educational purposes.

“It is important to monitor their screen time to ensure that what they are engaging with is educational and inspiring. We want them to develop innovative ideas as they explore this space,” she advised.

Addressing the education gap, Leonard also pointed out the need for the education system to evolve with technological changes.

“Our school systems have started to embrace digital learning, but we still have a long way to go. We need to reevaluate our curriculum to ensure it meets the global needs of our children,” she explained.

“The world is not waiting for us, so it’s our responsibility to catch up and ensure that the children we are raising today become the leaders of tomorrow”, she reiterated.

She urged parents to encourage their children to engage with educational content online while also regulating screen time.

The Ceo of Global Sky Security and Executive Director for Mavis Inspires called on the government to equip schools with the necessary tools and resources to teach technology effectively and to review the curriculum to align with global standards.

According to her, by working together, parents, governments, and educational institutions can help bridge the educational gap and ensure that children are equipped to succeed in the digital age.
