The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service has successfully recovered three state-owned vehicles from Maxwell Kofi Jumah, the former Managing Director of GIHOC Distilleries Company Limited.

The retrieval of these vehicles followed a formal complaint filed by several GIHOC employees, which prompted an investigation into the alleged unauthorized possession of state assets.

This recovery is part of an ongoing investigation concerning Jumah’s purported misappropriation of state resources.

In a press briefing held at the CID Headquarters in Accra, DCOP Lydia Yaako Donkor, the Director-General of the CID, stated, “Our investigations are ongoing, and we are working to establish the full facts surrounding the matter.”

While the CID has confirmed that the vehicles were retrieved from Jumah’s possession, they have not disclosed their specific models or the circumstances surrounding their recovery.

GIHOC Distilleries Company Limited, one of Ghana’s oldest state-owned manufacturing entities, has faced internal unrest and demands for reforms in leadership and asset management.

Jumah’s tenure as Managing Director has been marred by allegations of financial impropriety, including questionable vehicle acquisitions, unauthorized sales of company properties, and inflated staff numbers.

This case has garnered significant public interest, particularly due to Jumah’s prominent roles in both business and politics. As a former Member of Parliament and Deputy Minister of Local Government, his actions have come under intense scrutiny.

The CID’s actions are part of a broader effort to promote accountability and ensure proper management of state resources.

The CID has assured the public that further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.

The outcome of the investigation will determine the next steps, which may include potential charges or disciplinary actions against Jumah.

This case highlights the importance of accountability and transparency in managing state assets.

The recovery of these state vehicles from Jumah sends a strong message about the government’s commitment to accountability and transparency. It also underscores the need for effective oversight and management of state resources to prevent misuse and ensure that public assets are used for their intended purposes.

The CID’s efforts in retrieving these vehicles represent a significant step toward ensuring accountability and proper stewardship of state resources.

The investigation’s outcome will be closely monitored, with the public eager to see justice served and state assets protected.
