The Private Newspapers and Online News Publishers Association of Ghana (PRINPAG) has sworn in a new executive council, marking a new era for the organization. The ceremony was attended by Deputy Minister for Government Communication,
Honourable Shamima Muslim, who emphasized the crucial role of press freedom in sustaining and growing democracy.
In her address, Muslim highlighted the importance of a free and independent media in promoting transparency, accountability, and good governance.
She urged the media to engage in constructive criticism that advances the country’s development, rather than merely pointing out faults.

“The government is committed to supporting the media industry and ensuring that it continues to play a vital role in Ghana’s democracy.”
New Leadership and Vision
The newly sworn-in PRINPAG President, Mr. David Sitsofe Tamakloe, outlined a bold vision for the organization.
He pledged to restore the visibility, credibility, and sustainability of Ghana’s private print and online media through sweeping reforms.
“Advertising is not charity; it is a value exchange,” Tamakloe said.
Adding “We must raise the bar on professionalism. When we value ourselves, others will value us. Empowered journalists create empowered societies.
Tamakloe also announced plans to engage advertisers, corporate entities, and state institutions to ensure fairer distribution of advertising opportunities.
He emphasized the importance of prioritizing professionalism and member welfare.
Support from GJA
The President of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), Mr. Albert Kwabena Dwumfour, pledged the organization’s full support to the new PRINPAG leadership.
“We urge the new PRINPAG leadership to champion the welfare of journalists and pledge the GJA’s full support,” he said.
PRINPAG’s Mission
PRINPAG’s Executive Secretary, Mr. Jeorge Wilson Kingsley, reaffirmed the association’s mission to protect press freedom, uphold professionalism, and advance member welfare.
“Leadership cannot thrive in isolation and requires the active participation and support of members to succeed,” he said.
The newly sworn-in executive council consists of:

– Vice President: Michael Antwi
– Organizing Secretary: Prince Kaunda
– Public Relations and External Affairs Officer: Opare Djan
– Financial Secretary and Treasurer: Naana Aklerh Kubi I
The new PRINPAG executive council is expected to drive positive change and promote the interests of its members, while upholding the highest standards of professionalism and integrity in the media industry.
