Trasacco Group Respects Ghana’s Muslim Community but will Defend Its Legimaye Rights in Borteyman Land Dispute

Trasacco Estates Development Company Limited has reaffirmed its respect for Ghana’s Muslim community while insisting on its legal rights and ownership of the lands at Borteyman in Accra. The company expressed concern that recent media reports have sought to frame the matter in religious terms, describing it as an attack on the Muslim Ummah, rather than addressing the legal facts.

In a statement, Trasacco emphasized that its claim to the disputed land was lawfully acquired through the Tema Development Corporation (TDC) between 2014 and 2016, following all due processes. The company noted that TDC records confirm a legitimate allocation of 26 acres to the Muhajirun African American Islamic Institute (MAAII) in 1981, not the 72 acres being circulated.

Trasacco further alleged that portions of the land originally granted to the Institute have over time been sold or transferred to private developers, undermining its intended use for schools, mosques, and community projects. “Once exhausted, claims suddenly expand to the full 72 acres, or more, to encroach on lawfully allocated properties like ours,” the statement read.

Addressing allegations of misconduct following attempts by the Muslim Community to draw in the National Chief Imam and the Presidency, of which the two have forcefully denied involvement, Trasacco clarified that its land transactions had been investigated by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) and were found to be legitimate.

The company dismissed accusations of intimidation, landguard use, or road blockades, stressing its commitment to peaceful dialogue and respect for the role of the National Chief Imam in promoting amicable resolution.

Trasacco urged the Muhajirun Institute to focus on developing its allocated 26 acres rather than pursuing additional claims. “This is not a clash of faiths or a corporate land grab,” the statement said, “but a test of upholding legal allocations against revisionist claims.”

The company concluded by reiterating its contribution to Ghana’s housing sector, creating jobs and infrastructure, while pledging to defend the rights of its clients and protect the integrity of its estates.

The recent media narratives surrounding the Borteyman land dispute paint a picture laden with emotional appeals and religious undertones, attempting to frame a straightforward property matter as a broader attack on the Muslim Ummah.

Trasacco Estates Development Company Limited unequivocally respects the Muslim community in Ghana, including the Muhajirun African American Islamic Institute (MAAII) and the wider Ummah, whose contributions to education, faith, and national development we have long admired.

However, it is regrettable that these stories seek to inflame religious sentiments rather than address the factual, legal realities of the case.

Trasacco’s position remains firm: we hold rightful ownership of the disputed portions of land, acquired transparently in 2014/2016 through proper channels with the Tema Development Corporation (TDC), and we are committed to protecting the investments of our clients and the transformative residential projects that benefit the nation.

The Facts on Allocation: 26 Acres, not 72

At the heart of the misinformation is the repeated claim of a 72-acre allocation to the Muhajirun Institute in 1981, later reclassified for educational use in 2000.

Official TDC records, as confirmed in correspondence dated March 28, 2014, clearly establish that the legitimate allocation was only 26 acres, not the inflated figure being circulated.

This redefinition was not ‘manipulation’ but a necessary correction based on verified surveys and documentation to resolve boundary ambiguities in a rapidly developing area.

Trasacco’s acquisition of adjacent lands followed this clarification, with ministerial approvals and due process, enabling us to develop over 270 acres into Trasacco Valley Estates, a project that has provided quality housing, jobs, and infrastructure for Ghanaians for nearly 12 years.

The question that demands answers from the Muhajirun side is simple: What became of their 26 acres?

Over four decades, instead of fulfilling the stated purpose of building schools, mosques, and community facilities, portions of this land were reportedly sold or transferred to private developers and individuals for profit.

Once exhausted, claims suddenly expand to the full 72 acres, or more, to encroach on lawfully allocated properties like ours.

This pattern of subletting and expansion undermines the very educational mission they invoke.

Trasacco has no issue with legitimate community development, but we cannot allow opportunistic overreach to jeopardize the rights of third-party buyers who have invested in good faith.

EOCO’s Investigation: Allegations Proven Baseless

The narrative of ‘shadow dealings,’ political interference, and EOCO red flags is equally misleading.

Trasacco’s allocations were subjected to thorough scrutiny by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), which investigated claims of irregularities and found them entirely without merit.

No evidence of wrongdoing was uncovered, and the process affirmed our lawful title.

It is deeply regrettable and unbecoming that certain parties continue to impugn the integrity of this esteemed state security agency for their parochial interests.

EOCO’s findings stand as a testament to the transparency of our operations, and we urge media outlets to verify facts rather than amplify unsubstantiated accusations that erode public trust in Ghanaian institutions.

No Blockades, No Intimidation: A Commitment to Peaceful Resolution

Accusations of blocking access routes to schools or homes, deploying landguards, or using soldiers are fabrications designed to stir division.

Trasacco categorically denies any such actions; our developments have coexisted peacefully with neighbouring properties for years, and recent reports of demolitions or encroachments stem from unlawful activities by third parties, not us.

We have always advocated for dialogue and legal channels, including supporting the National Chief Imam’s efforts for amicable resolution.

The 2016 government handover to the Chief Imam pertained to specific community portions outside our allocated lands, and we respect that distinction.

However, attempts to portray our defence of property rights as anti-Muslim are disingenuous and harmful to community harmony.

A Call for Justice and Accountability

Trasacco Group has contributed immensely to Ghana’s real estate sector, creating thousands of jobs and modern housing without prejudice to any group.

The Borteyman dispute is not a clash of faiths or a corporate ‘grab’; it is a test of upholding legal allocations against revisionist claims.

We implore the Muhajirun Institute to focus on developing their 26 acres as originally intended, rather than pursuing what is rightfully ours.

Until then, Trasacco will continue to protect our investments and the families who call our estates home, all while honouring the spirit of unity in Ghana’s diverse society.
