Written by ...

The Primary Group Global Foundation apologized to Ghana’s Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, for mentioning his name during a October 30, 2025 press conference about suspected misappropriation of humanitarian funds.

The foundation stated it did not mean to damage Debrah’s reputation and issued an unreserved apology.

The controversy concerns alleged misuse of funds from MAEC intended for Ghana’s development projects. The foundation is now investigating those involved, including Republic Bank.

Debrah has been active in anti-corruption efforts, emphasizing ethics as a core element of Ghana’s anti-corruption strategy. He has also worked on developing a new national anti-corruption plan.

The apology, signed by Michael Bass, POA Consultant/Director of Primary Group Global Foundation, states: “Suspected Circumvention/Retraction Primary Group Global Foundation wishes to retract the mention of the name of the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, during the recent press conference held on 30/10/25 regarding suspected circumvention involving Humanitarian Funds from MAEC to assist the Government in funding projects to develop Ghana.

The name of the Chief of Staff was mentioned to draw his attention to the suspected circumvention involving certain allies working with us.

It is not our organization’s intention to discredit the Chief of Staff. After the press conference, we engaged with some individuals involved and acknowledge that mentioning the Chief of Staff was regrettable.

Primary Group Global Foundation extends an unqualified apology to the Chief of Staff.

Nevertheless, we will pursue those actively involved, including Republic Bank. We will provide updates as appropriate.”}

The incident underscores ongoing efforts to fight corruption in Ghana, with Debrah’s office likely to scrutinize the situation closely. The outcome of the investigation will be critical in shaping subsequent actions.
