GTDC Introduces Strategic Plans to Revitalize Ghana’s Tourism Industry

Accra, Dec. 9 – The Ghana Tourism Development Company (GTDC) revealed a series of strategic plans aimed at boosting growth and attracting investment in Ghana’s tourism sector.

At a press briefing on Tuesday, December 9th, 2025, in Accra, GTDC Board Chairman Ben Ohene Ayeh outlined initiatives to modernize promotional efforts and improve sector efficiency.

Mr. Ayeh announced the upcoming launch of the Ghana Tourism Investment Platform, designed to direct private investments into flagship tourism projects nationwide, thereby expanding access to Ghana’s tourism offerings, elevating industry visibility, and enhancing the country’s image.

Additional projects, such as the “Accra by Night” initiative and fleet-pool marketing services, demonstrate GTDC’s renewed focus on innovation, creativity, and operational excellence.

Commending GTDC CEO Professor Kobby Mensah and his team for their leadership, Mr. Ayeh reiterated that the transformation efforts aim to position GTDC as a key driver of tourism development.

Professor Mensah emphasized that media engagement is central to the transformation plan, helping to share Ghana’s stories globally.

He highlighted Ghana’s diverse geographic landscape, which makes it well-suited to host large numbers of visitors and support a vibrant tourism economy.

Professor Mensah pointed out several attractions with untapped potential, calling for better infrastructure and strategic planning to make them competitive worldwide.

So far, GTM has onboarded 50 vendors, processed more than GH₵20,000 in revenue, and attracted over 240 users since its rollout.

Elaborating on the Ghana Tourism Marketplace“GTM is the digital heartbeat of Ghana’s tourism industry and a smart gateway for global travellers,” Mensah said. “With GTM, we are building a digital economy around tourism that is transparent, efficient and globally competitive.”

He encouraged Ghanaians to embrace patriotism and protect their cultural identity, stressing that tourism thrives when citizens take pride in their heritage.

The initiatives introduced by GTDC are expected to significantly influence the future of hana’s tourism sector.
