Ghana Water Limited (GWL) has announced the completion of repair works on a 42-inch transmission main that burst on Monday, January 19, 2026, disrupting water supply to parts of Eastern Accra and the Tema Metropolis.
The repair works were completed at 20:00 GMT on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, and water supply is expected to resume progressively.
The affected areas include the entire Tema Metropolis, Ashaiman, Gbetsele, Akatamanso, Klagon, Lashibi, Baatsonaa, Spintex, parts of East Legon, Nungua, Teshie, and surrounding communities. GWL apologized for the inconvenience caused and thanked customers for their patience and cooperation during the repair period.
The burst transmission line was a major disruption, and GWL engineers worked around the clock to complete the repairs. The company has assured customers that supply will continue to stabilize progressively across all affected areas.
