Accra, Ghana – The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has condemned the widespread incidents of inducement and vote buying allegedly perpetuated by some aspirants at the Ayawaso East constituency primaries held today. In a statement, the party’s General Secretary, Hon. Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, described the actions as an affront to the party’s values and principles, and a betrayal of the trust reposed in the candidates.

The NDC has instituted a full-scale investigation into the matter, aiming to identify those responsible for the alleged malpractices. The party has warned that swift action will be taken against any candidate found culpable, including possible disqualification from the party’s internal elections.

Hon. Kwetey emphasized that the NDC is committed to upholding the integrity of its electoral processes and ensuring that the reset agenda it is championing is not compromised. He stressed that the party will not tolerate any form of corruption or malpractice that undermines the democratic principles of the party.

The NDC has also warned that in the future, more drastic sanctions, including possible cancellation of elections, will be taken if such incidents occur. The party is urging all stakeholders to cooperate with the investigation and ensure that those responsible are held accountable.

The Ayawaso East constituency primaries are part of the NDC’s internal elections, aimed at selecting the party’s parliamentary candidate for the upcoming general elections.
