Journalists Key to Ghana’s Anti-Corruption Drive – GACC

Accra, Ghana – The Anti-Corruption Coalition has launched an initiative to strengthen the capacity of journalists to promote accountability and good governance in Ghana.

The initiative aims to equip journalists with a deeper understanding of the anti-corruption agenda, enabling them to produce more analytical pieces that hold public officers accountable.

Speaking at a one-day follow-up media training on governance and anti-corruption, Samuel Harrison Cudjoe, Programmes Officer at GACC, emphasized the critical role journalists play in promoting transparency and accountability. “The coalition recognizes the importance of journalists in the fight against corruption. We are committed to working with them to build their capacity and provide the necessary support,” he said.

Samuel noted that some of the biggest anti-corruption breakthroughs in Ghana have come from exposes done by journalists, highlighting the critical role they play in promoting transparency and accountability. The initiative includes providing access to platforms like the Advocacy and Legal Advice Center, offering legal support and advice to help journalists address challenges they face in reporting.
