Accra, Ghana – The father of Anthony Kudjo Tettey Ehiamah, who was found dead at the Oyarifa gravel pit on September 18, 2024, has spoken out against alleged manipulation and inconsistencies in the investigation of his son’s death.
Mr. Alfred Kwame Tettey Ehiamah expressed his concerns in an emotional interview, recounting that his son’s body was found lifeless at the urinal of the Church of Pentecost, leading to widespread concern and outrage. The church’s Landlord and Elders reported the case to the Ghana Police at Oyarifa Station, and the body was later taken to the Police Hospital Morgue.
He stated that Chief Inspector Bekoe, under ASP Zoyah’s supervision—the Ayi Mensah District Commander—handled the investigation. However, he claimed that two plainclothes men visited the crime scene with the investigator, claiming to be from the Homicide Unit, which raised suspicions about the investigation.
The grieving father identified two suspects, Obed Sam and Henry Gomashie, out of six interviewed persons, who were released on bail without being taken to court or notifying the family. He questioned why proper procedures were not followed in releasing the suspects.
Mr. Ehiamah also revealed that his son had told his mother that his life was threatened over illegal dealings involving his bank account, which allegedly included funds meant for the school feeding program. “This information matched what the investigator told me— that money meant for the school feeding program was being siphoned into my son’s account,” he explained.
He expressed frustration over the investigation, noting that despite these revelations, no concrete action was taken. “When I asked what his next step was, his answers were inconsistent,” he added. Chief Inspector Bekoe later told the family the docket was sent to the Attorney-General’s office for advice; however, the family later discovered it was never received.
The family has petitioned the Greater Accra Regional Police Command and the IGP, accusing the officers involved of misconduct and hiding important information.
Appealing to President Mahama, the Vice President, and the IGP for intervention, Mr. Ehiamah said: “Your Excellency, I respectfully request an investigation into the conduct of these officers for a thorough, independent probe into my son’s murder.”
This case has raised questions about transparency, accountability, and public trust in the justice system. The petition copies have been sent to the IGP, Vice President’s office, EOCO, IN, National Security, and CID.
The family seeks justice for Anthony Kudjo Tettey Ehiamah, with Mr. Ehiamah pledging to cooperate with any new or independent investigation. “I am available. I have nothing to hide. All I want is justice for my son,” he dedeclared.
