Written by ...

Ghana Premier League club, Accra Hearts of Oak have taken one of the wisest decisions in recent times.

The defending league champions have often been criticized for poor contractual issues where most of their players have left the club for free. The continental club masters have now changed the status quo – releasing two of their players to Premier League returnees, Real Tamale United United. The 21 time league holders have sent striker, Victor Aidoo and young forward, Issah Kuka to RTU on loan for the rest of the season. Victor Aidoo signed for the Phobians from Division One League club, Samartex in 2020 on a 3-year deal and quickly hit the ground running but the forms of Kofi Kordzi and Kwadwo Obeng Junior has relegated him to the bench.

Issah Kuka on the other hand was promoted into the senior side by coach Samuel Boadu but struggled to command a regular shirt with the 2000 CAF Champions League winners. Their loan moves is expected to aid them get more playing time under coach Tanko Shaibu who has transformed RTU into a tough customer. Hearts of Oak have had mixed results in the 2021/22 league season having started on a slow note – picking three opening draws.

The 2004 CAF Confederation Cup winners have gone on to record five wins, five draws and three losses with 20 points in 8th position this term. They have a tough week seven outstanding fixture against rivals, Asante Kotoko set for February. A mountainous fixture awaits them on Sunday in Accra against King Faisal in week 15.
