Hearts of Oak wrenched the hands of Medeama SC and succeeded in whisking away coach Samuel Boadu.
In March 2021, the 35-year-old trainer signed a 3-and-a-half year deal with a mandate of winning the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League and participating favourably in the continental competition.
Boadu led the Phobians to their first ever league title in over a decade and their 21st title in all. Success continued in the second tier competition after dispatching AshantiGold to win the MTN FA Cup – extending a record 11th time , two better than rivals, Asante Kotoko.
The feat automatically made the 2000 CAF Champions League champions, winners of the Ghana Super Cup.
The 2004 CAF Confederation Cup winners have had a roller coaster outing this term, grabbing six wins, five draws and four losses.
Their fourth derby defeat against Great Olympics in match day 16 has elicited anger among the teeming with many calling for his head.
Samuel Boadu said after the Great Olympics defeat: “It was a very good game but then we lost concentration on the latter part of the game and I think that is the mistake that we committed and it resulted in a goal and we have to go back and work,” Samuel Boadu told StarsTimes.
“You could see in the game that it’s hard luck, that’s what I can say. “It was hard luck for Hearts of Oak, we played well, we were supposed to score them during the first half but it’s quite unfortunate that we conceded such a goal.” Samuel Boadu added.
The 2001 CAF Super Cup have managed 23 points from 15 matches in 7th with a week seven outstanding clash against arch rivals, Asante Kotoko.
Hearts of Oak failed to impress in continental football – exiting the CAF Champions League and the Confederation Cup at the second playoffs stage to Wydad Athletic Club and Jeunesse Sportive de Saoura respect.
Their next week 17 clash is an away journey up North against Real Tamale United at the Aliu Mahama Stadium on Sunday, February 13.
