Online Learning Platform essential to attain quality higher education- Dr. Bawumia

The advancement of Information, Communications and Technology (ICT) has made online learning platform feasible and economically appropriate means of extending quality higher education, offering several benefits including saving time and money,
The rest are better retention of taught material, and consistent and standardized training every time for every learner.
This statements where made by the Vice President of the Republic, Dr. mahamudu Bawumia at the launch the integrated online learning program, a platform that focuses on empowering and preparing young people for the job market of the 21st century.
The move, according to Dr. Bawumia will go a long way to not only enhance accessibility, but also bring about equity for all, regardless of the geographic location of a learner at any point in time.
The platform will offer an extensive range of courses through partnerships with local businesses, organisations, industries and institutions to develop skills and competency for young people.
Additionally, that platform will help graduates to find opportunities and put their skills into practice in the world of work.
The integrated learning platform according to the Vice President, provides an appropriate method of instructions particularly for learners in rural settings.
“E-learning is hailed as an essential force for democratizing education for it holds the key to inclusive education”.
Adding “it is a way of opening education to populations who otherwise will have restricted access to education because of geography, status, or physical handicap”.
The Vice President further affirmed that, “E-learning is an appropriate platform to instruct students in remote areas which involves all types of learning and skills development.”
“Integrated online learning saves time and money. With online learning learners can access content anywhere and at anytime,” he said.
According to him, The integrated learning platform connects with the government’s free Senior High School policy with long term good prospects for the economy going forward.
Dr. Bawumia was of the believe that, online learning platform will save time and money because learners do not have to drive to learning centers.
Again, there will be a reduction in printing of papers which will result in reduction in carbon footprint among others.
