The Ghana Communication Technology University (GCTU) has admitted five hundred and seventeen (517) students to pursue various disciplines for May 2023 academic year.
Students in this regard have been challenged to commit to themselves by abiding by the rules and regulations governing their stay and studies on campus.
Addressing students at the matriculation ceremony in Accra, the Vice-Chancellor of GCTU, Professor Emmanuel Afoakwa said the University is devoted to excellence, innovation, research, industry-driven curriculum, and technology education.
He said the institution is committed to creating an enabling environment that nurtures cutting-edge ideas and empowers students and faculty to consistently push the boundaries of knowledge in academic education.

“The University has embarked on an ambitious endeavour to develop cutting edge structures and systems that will rival the innovation and technological prowess of Silicon Valley in the United States of America (USA) and however explained that such systems will serve as a platform to spearhead research and drive economic growth for the country,” he said.
Throwing more light on Silicon Valley, the Vice Chancellor said the University have encouraged collaborations, embraced diversity, mentorship, incubation support, and access to investor capital which enhances the zeal for entrepreneurship saying the gesture will empower students and faculty to transform their respective innovative ideas into successful startups to boost enterprises.
Prof. Emmanuel Afoakwa said the University is fervently engaging global technology leaders, start-ups, and investors to create a network that will connect students and faculty with industry experts to facilitate knowledge sharing and promote technology transfer to propel the growth of the technology ecosystem.
“With the collective effort of players in the University, management is confident that the said systems can be achieved”, he said indicating that it is a journey to build systems that will rival Silicon Valley in the USA.
Turning the spotlight on a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), the VC said GTUC has signed with industry players in Ghana, Africa, Europe, the Americas, and Asia, to support the training of students to enhance knowledge and skills to adequately prepare students for the World of Works (WoWs), particularly in areas of technological innovation and entrepreneurship.
He, therefore challenged students to explore and be innovative in their career advancement by developing relevant apps and other technological systems to propel the digitization agenda of the country.
