The Sixth Council of Ministers conference of the Consultative International Cashew Council (CICC) commences from the 16th to the 20th of April, 2024 in Accra. The event seeks to provide a framework for consultation and promote the development of the cashew sector in the member states through coordinating policies and cooperation.
In addition, it will also facilitate cross-learning and sharing of experiences among the scientific community, ultimately informing policy decisions and investment needs in the sector.
Line up of activities includes a cashew expo and exhibition under the theme, “Projecting The Cashew Sector Through Local Consumption, Value Addition, and Job Creation”.
6th Consultative International Cashew Council Conference Opens in Accra
The event will showcase various cashew products, and educate the public on the essential benefits and markets as well as the opportunities of increasing the consumption rate of cashews, and visibility for small and medium size cashew processors.
The CICC has its headquarters in Abidjan, Ivory Coast with eleven member countries: Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Mali, Nigeria, Senegal, and Togo.
The Deputy Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Tree Crop Authority Mr. Yaw Oteng said the vision of the CICC is to serve the member countries through promotion and advocacy knowledge sharing, innovation, and partnership and to provide also platforms for discussion issues of global importance of the cashew value chains.
6th Consultative International Cashew Council Conference Opens in Accra
According to him, Ghana stands to gain significantly and will have the opportunity to showcase the country’s progress and potential in the cashew sector attracting foreign direct investment to develop the country.
“The awareness and visibility created about the event will enhance cashew trade and investment as well as increase the consumption of cashew which will benefit producers and consumers,” he added.
