As the fourth month of April ends early next week, Ghana would be left with eight (8) months more to look forward to going to the polls on December 7 to elect both a President and 275 Members of Parliament.
Already, some of the political parties have either selected their presidential and parliamentary aspirants for the upcoming national polls.
It must also be noted that about four (4) persons including Kwame Amo Bediako, Jacob Osei Yeboah, Kofi Akpaloo have all indicated their decisions to contest the upcoming election as independent presidential candidates.
This, obviously, shows that the election of December 7 is shaping up really good and promises to be an exciting contest as these aspirants crisp-cross the regions of Ghana to sell their messages and policies when elected.
And on Wednesday, the largest opposition party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) officially outdoored its running mate in the shape of Professor Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang.
Touting her credentials, John Mahama, flag-bearer of the NDC said the former English Professor at the Cape Coast University was a person of high integrity and of flawless character.
Accepting the offer, Prof Naana Opoku Agyemang said she would lead a clean campaign of ideas about issues whose solutions could lead to the transformation of the economy of Ghana.
We at The New Independent, are however, happy that despite yet to be named running mate of the flag-bearer of the NPP, everything is shaping up for a competitive general election.
More so, we are also convinced that the country would have an issue-based campaigning period since almost all the parties by the public statements are showing so.
May Ghana be the winner at the end of the December 7 general elections!
