Madam Mercy Adzo Kporku, Principal of the Nursing and Midwifery Training College (NMTC), has emphasized the importance of technology integration in enhancing healthcare training, as 1,118 newly admitted students begin their academic journey.

Leveraging digital tools, she noted, is crucial in equipping students with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in the rapidly evolving healthcare landscape.

Madam Kporku made these remarks at the joint matriculation ceremony for NMTC, Accra School of Hygiene, and Public Health Nursing School held on Thursday, 13th March, 2025.

This milestone marks a significant step towards strengthening Ghana’s healthcare sector.

Speaking further, she highlighted the need for healthcare professionals to be proficient in using technology to deliver quality patient care.

The NMTC has made significant strides in integrating technology into its training programs. The college has established an ICT Lab, which serves as an e-learning hub for skills development.

This initiative is expected to enhance the students’ learning experience and prepare them for the demands of the modern healthcare system.

However, Madam Kporku noted that the college faces challenges in terms of internet connectivity and power fluctuations, which can disrupt teaching and learning.

She therefore appealed to stakeholders and benevolent organizations to support the college in addressing these challenges.

Meanwhile, Madam Mercy Adzo Kporku urged the students to take their lessons seriously and see themselves as the next generation of nurses and healthcare professionals.

“Your presence here is not a personal achievement but a call to duty to serve humanity with knowledge and compassion,” she emphasized.

As they begin their studies, they are expected to embody the values of compassion, empathy, and professionalism that define the healthcare profession.

The integration of technology into healthcare training is expected to have a positive impact on the quality of care delivered in Ghana’s healthcare system.

As the NMTC continues to lead the way in this regard, it is clear that the future of healthcare in Ghana is bright.
