Rawlings to address June 4 at Nungua

Former President Jerry John Rawlings and other leading members of the June 4 uprising will on Tuesday address a grand durbar of chiefs and people at the Nungua Traditional Authority Park to mark the 40th anniversary of the 1979 uprising.

According to the anniversary planning committee, the Subaru which will commence with a parade of young cadres, followed by a wreath laying for the departed heroes.

In addition, solidarity messages will be delivered by a host of dignitaries including the National Democratic Congress General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia and cadre, Eric Bortey.

In a press release issued by the June 4th Planning Committee, this year’s celebration been under the theme ‘Developing a national character for sustainable good governance’ has already seen two comemorative events-a tree planting exercise which took place on 25th May, 2019 as well as an anniversary leacture which was delivered by Professor John Bright Aheto at the University of Ghana Business school on the 29th May, 2019.

Meanwhile, the celebrations are also being observed across the country with lectures and dubars at local venues.

Therefore, the Press release called on all cadres, sympathisers of the revolution and the general public to Tuesday’s event at Nungua.
