Youths of Ada, today Saturday 16th November marched through principal streets of Kasseh to put pressure on the government to take urgent actions against the growing incidents of armed robbery and accidents in Ada in the Greater Accra Region.
The protest, convened by a group called Ada Concerned Citizens, was christened ‘Kasseh Must Be Crime Free’.
The demonstrators, clad in red held placards with inscriptions such as ‘We Do Not Trust The Police In Ada; Transfer All Of Them’, ‘We Live Fear’, ‘3 Armed Robbery Attacks Every 3 Days; Enough is Enough’, ‘Ada Is Our Only Home’, ‘We Need Street Lights’, ‘Don’t Only Come Here When You Need Votes’, ‘Madam DCE, Madam MP Stop Sleeping’, ’52 Plus Armed Robbery Attacks With Several Gunshot Wounds And 2 Deaths Why?, among others.
The demonstration is as a,result of the recent armed robbery attacks in the township which led to demise of one Michael Kpalam popularly known as ‘Ogebtey Michael’ and his wife Gladys Henanawopeh, who is seriously wounded and battling for her life on Thursday 7th November 2019.
The demonstrators walked from the Alphamega Microfinance Building towards the Zongo of the town, the Accra stretch of the high way and the Ada Foah stretch of the road before finally converging at the Kasseh lorry Park amidst singing, drumming and chanting.
They made available their petition they will be presenting to the District Chief Executive (DCE) Sarah Dugbarkie Pobee on Monday 18th November 2019 to the media houses present, to demand action on the security situation in Ada.
