Information Minister advises staff to upgrade themselves

Staff of the Ministry of Informationas well as Information Services Department has been advised to improve upon themselves and the institutions they work in.

The Minister of Information, Mr Kojo Oppong Nkrumah who gave the advise pointed out to the staff not to rely solely on their institutions for upgrade of theirselves but should rather work tirelessly and productive for the change they, the staff seeks to see and experience at the workplace.

Speaking further, he streesed that, the Ministry and the Departments can not be transformed by an outsider but rather they the staff.

Questioning, if staffs are unwilling to do what is expected of them, how do the Ministry and department progress to seek their interest and welfare.

“Not even management can do that along without the output of staff”, he added.

These remarks by the Information Minister was made at the end of year staff durbar and awards ceremony at the Ministry.

Mr. Elikem Kofigah of the Ministry of Information at the Awards Ceremony emerged the overall best worker for the Ministry of Information and Madam Josephine Brown, a Secretary of the Information Services Department emerged as the overall best worker for the Department and for their prizes they had an HP probook 15″ laptop each.

The Minister used the ocassion to call on staff to focus on important issues in 2020 and not always dwell on complains at every opportunity they get but focus on the positives.


Therefore charged them not to be self-centered but pay attention to the needs and challenges of their colleagues.

“It is only then, when a colleague is going through some challenges it would be recognized and if any help has to be given it is done to avoid any unfortunate eventuality”, he stressed.

Mr. Oppong Nkrumah thanked the entire staff and Management for their sacrifices and call to duty that made the Ministry and Department succeed in 2019.

For that, he promised to do his best toensure the materialisation of the ISD transformational Agenda.

In all six staff, three staff from the ministry and three form ISD won various awards for their outstanding performances.

The 1st Runner up, Mr. Mawuli Segbefia from the Ministry and Madam Phyllis Nunoo from the ISD won a 40″ sumsung television each with the 2nd Runners up Madam Gifty Ofosu-Fiator and Joseph Oninku from the Ministry and ISD respectfully winning for themselves Nasco Meduim size Fridges.

In all, Staff expressed their heartfelt for this first time of acknowledging hardworking staff, hence believes this positive initiative will propel them to giveout their best in all they do.
