The Flagbearer of the main opposition party, National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Dramani Mahama has been described as a ‘maintenance officer’ who only knows how to perform to keep some system/policies functioning or in service sand not someone who gives a promise, initiate and execute human centered polices.
According to the Deputy National Campaign Manager of the ruling party, New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mustapha Hamid, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akifo-Addo has exhibited the qualities of a leader who knows how to initiate, execute policies that are transforming the lives of the ordinary Ghanaians.
To him, the NPP led government for the past three years, eight months in power has demonstrated how efficient it is in managing the affairs and resources of the country for the benefits of all irrespective of one’s political affiliation, tribe or religion.
Therefore believes that, they, the NPP has superior track record under President Akifo-Addo as compared to National Democratic Congress (NDC) under former President John Dramani Mahama who wants to be voted for again in the upcoming December polls in Ghana.
Speaking at Press Briefing in Accra, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Deputy National Campiagn Manager explained that, NDC records during its eight years tenure in office is nowhere close to Nana Akufo-Addo’s three years and eight months record in power.
Stressing that, it would be suicidal for Ghanaians to give him, John Dramani Mahama another opportunity to rule the country.
“The Nana-Akufo Addo-led NPP government has managed the country better than the Mahama-led NDC administration”, he emphasized.
Dr. Mustapha Hamid used the occassion to outline some of Akufo-Addo’s achievements in the economic sector that has transformed and enhanced the fortunes and lives of the ordinary Ghanaians and Ghana at large.
Some of the outlined achievements are as follows:
First and foremost, the reduction of children out of school, improving Ghana’s GDP growth rate and per capita citing that, the annual 7.0% GDP growth rate under the Presidency of Nana Akufo-Addo has been stronger than John Mahama’s 4.0%.
In addition, the average 4.7% annual GDP Per Capita growth rate under Nana Akufo-Addo has been stronger than John Mahama’s 1.6% whilst the average 14.9% annual growth rate of Exports under President Nana Akufo-Addo has been higher than John Mahama’s 1.1%.
With regards to inflation, the National Deputy Campaign Manager revealed that, President Nana Akufo-Addo has ably reduced inflation from 17.5% recorded under the Mahama administration in 2016 to meet the Central Bank’s Inflation target range of 6-10% in 2018 and 2019.
As well as the average 6.7% annual Manufacturing Value Added growth has been higher under President Nana Akufo-Addo than John Mahama’s 2.1%
Trained Teachers’ in Lower Secondary Education annual growth rate according to him is averagely 1.4% under Nana Akufo-Addo as compared to Mr. Mahama’s 0.9%.
“For the first time in the history of Ghana, children out of school, measured as a percentage of Primary School Age reduced to 0.8% under the Presidency of Nana Akufo-Addo”, he indicated.
Adding that, “This is lower than the 2018 average of 1.67% for OECD Member Countries”.
Data he opined reveals that on average, successive governments of the NPP have performed better in improving the living conditions of Ghanaians than successive governments under the NDC.
Citing the reduction of unemployment at an average rate of 15.0% annually as compared to NDC administration where unemployment increased at an average rate of 7.3% annually.
In conclusion Dr. Mistapha Hamid who is also the Minister for Inner Cities and Zongos remarked that, “Whereas the NPP has significantly transformed the lives of Ghanaians through the implementation of impactful policies, the NDC has proven to be incompetent at introducing life-changing policies let alone implement them successfully”.
Adding “Whereas President Nana Akufo-Addo has, in less than 4 years, proven to be a promise keeper through competent and decisive leadership, John Mahama has demonstrated that he lacks the credibility required to fulfill promises he makes to Ghanaians”.
Therefore called on John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to tell Ghanaians what he wants to do in the next 4 years that he could not do in his 8 years as Vice President and President?
However he urged Ghanaians that, the choice in December should be a leader who has a clear vision for the country, demonstrable integrity, courage, decisiveness, and the passion to position Ghana Beyond Aid while enhancing the dignity of the Ghanaian.
That choice he claims can not be no other person than Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the promise-keeper.
