This year fees for Presidential candidates readying themselves to contest in the upcoming December 7, 2020 general elections will be required to pay a whopping amount of GHS 100,000 for nominations forms in a bankdraft form when submitting their forms.
For Parliamentary Candidates, an amount ofGHS 10,000 is required to pick thier nomination forms.
These forms, Presidential and Parliamentary respectively according to the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Mrs Jean Mensa can be accessed on the Electoral Commission website from 14th September, 2020.
The Commission made these known at a press briefing on Monday, 14th September,2020.
Speaking further, EC Chairperson indicated that, candidates who purchases their forms are required to submit them from October 5 to 9 between 9-1pm and 2-5pm each day at the EC head office and District offices for Presidential and Parliamentary respectively.
This actions accoding to EC is to comply with the COVID-19 protocols whereas candidates may be accompanied by ONLY 5 of their supporters when submitting the forms to Electoral Commission.
This year general elections will have a total of 29 political parties who are in the EC’s books and qualifies to file both Presidential an ld Parliamentary candidates.
