Elections 2020: Filing of Presidential & Parliamentary nominations forms slated for October 5th-9th

Monday, 5th October to Friday, 9th October,2020 has been slated for the picking and filing of nomination forms for candidtaes contesting for the Presidential and Parliamentary elections in the upcoming general polls in December,2020.

This was diclosed by the Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC) at its ‘Citizen Must Know’ press briefing at its head office, Accra on Monday, 14th September,2020.

Addressing the media, EC Chairperson, Mrs. Jean Mensa at the EC’s head Office announced that, the nomination forms will be available on the EC’s website from 6:00pm Monday, 14th Septwmber,2020.

However, candidates can only access the forms by using unique passwords that will be made available to general secretaries of the various political parties.

Whiles Inndependent candidates, Mrs Mensa stressed, can access the passwords from the IT department of the Commission.

She therefore observed that, the Commission has introduced new measures in an effort to reduce human contact and human traffic in a general commitment to ensure a Covid-19-free exercise.

With regards to time to receive nominations at the party’s headquarters for the presidential candidates, Mrs. Jean Mensa stated that, it will be between 9:00am and 12:00noon and 2:00pm and 5:00pm each day from the 5th to 9th October,2020.

Adding that, all candidates are to submit the forms in quadruplicates along with a bankdraft of their respective amount.

For Parliamentary aspirants, they are to submit their nominations forms at the various District Returning Officers across the country.

Nomination forms fees for Presidential Candidates is an amount of GH¢100,000 while Parliamentary Candidates will file at GH¢10,000.
