Kevin Luckassen joins Kayserispor on a permanent deal

Ghanaian striker Kevin Luckassen has joined Kayserispor to provide a squad boost for the team.

The Dutch-born attacker has in the past week been strongly linked with a possible move before the closing of the winter transfer window.

Today, Kayserispor has announced the signing of Kevin Luckassen on a two-and-a-half-year deal.

“Our club has signed a contract with striker Kevin Luckassen for 2.5 years.

“We wish good luck to both Kevin Luckassen and our club,” the club announced via Twitter today.

Joining from Romanian outfit Viitorul Constan?a, Kevin Luckassen is expected to add a lot of experience to the side having played for the likes of Ross Count, Slovan Liberec, SKN St. Pölten, Almere City FC, and AZ Alkmaar in the past.

Kayserispor risks battling relegation in the Turkish Super Lig but believes the new signing will provide the needed squad boost to ensure the club survives.

Background:

Kevin Luckassen (born July 27, 1993 in Eindhoven) is a Dutch-Ghanaian footballer who plays for SKN St. Pölten in the Austrian Bundesliga.

He previously played for AZ but never made an appearance for the first team.

Luckassen began playing youth football for Amstelveen Heemrad and AVV Zeeburgia.

He later played for AFC Amsterdam and AZ Alkmaar and was promoted to the AZ first team squad as an 18-year-old at the start of the 2011–12 season, Luckassen did not make an appearance this whole season.

In the 2012–13 season he did not make an appearance and at the end of his contract he was released.

In July 2013, he signed a three-year deal with Scottish Premiership club Ross County.

He made his debut in a 2–1 defeat against Celtic at Celtic Park. Since then, he was would be often used in first team ins and out in the first half of the season.

After six months at Ross County, Luckassen left Ross County to join Gambrinus Liga side Slovan Liberec after the club accepted their bid. Days later, the move was confirmed.

Having made two appearance so far, Luckassen scored his first goal on 7 March 2014, as Slovan Liberec win 1-0 against Zbrojovka Brno.

He followed up his second goal two weeks later on 21 March 2014, in a 3-0 win over Jablonec.

He joined SKN St. Pölten on 8 July 2016.

Though born in Eindhoven, Netherlands, Luckassen expressed desire to play for Ghana, as his parents are Ghanaian.
