Thirteen Black Stars players trained for the first time on Monday, 30 August 2021, ahead of next their upcoming double 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Qatar-based captain Andre Ayew led the team which also had Mubarak Wakaso, Richard Attah, Jordan Ayew, Samuel Owusu, Baba Rahman and Jonathan Mensah present.

The training session which took place at the Mac Dan Park in La, Accra was supervised by head coach CK Akonnor.

The number of players in camp is expected to shoot up on Tuesday as some Europe-based players were expected to flight in on Monday night.

Ghana will open their campaign against Ethiopia at the Cape Coast Stadium in on Friday 3 September 2021.

Three days later, the Black Stars will be in Johannesburg to face South Africa.

Meanwhile Ethiopia head coach Wubetu Abate has named his final squad for their 2022 World Cup qualifications doubleheader against Ghana and Zimbabwe.

The Walia Ibex will take on the Black Stars on Friday 3 September 2021 at the Cape Coast stadium before hosting Zimbabwe later on Monday 6 September 2021.

Abate pruned his squad from 28 to 23 for the trip to Ghana on Tuesday after two friendly matches against Sierra Leone and Uganda.

The list includes three deadly strikers who scored over 60 goals in the Ethiopian Premier League last season.

Abubeker Nassir who netted 29 goals in 23 appearances for Ethiopia Bunna FC is included in the squad to face Ghana.
