Sanitation Ministry inaugurates Community Water and Sanitation Agency Boar

The Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources, Mrs. Cecilia Abena Dapaah has inaugurated a 9 member Board of the Community Water and Sanitation Agency (CWSA) with the call on management to put in place the needed structures and reforms to enhance the works of the Agency effectively and efficiently.

The Board members have the President’s Nominee, Mr. Kwesi Eduafo Yankey as Chairman with the following as members, Ing. Worlanyo Kwadjo Siabi-Chief Executive, CWSA, Mr. Remy Bonpira Puoru-Ghana Water Company Ltd.

The rest are Ing. Kwabena Gyasi Duku-Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources, Mr. Donnan Kobla Tay-Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources, Mr. Charles Numko-Non-Governmental Organisation, Pe Ditundini Adiali Ayagitan III-National House of Chiefs, Mr. Patrick Acheampong and Mad Rose Afua Appenteng as President Nominees.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Mrs Cecilia Dapaah urged members to exhibit their skills and competence in giving a new face to the Agency by showing commitments in the discharge of duties.

She advised the Board to institute reforms and roll out initiatives to support government to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 6 by providing water for all the citizenry across the country.

Mrs Cecilia Dapaah thanked the past board members for their unflinching contribution in the water sector and commended them also for their collaboration with the various NGOs working in the water space, saying their activities have enhanced the supply of portable water to needed communities.

The Chairman of the Community Water and Sanitation Agency Board, Mr. Kwesi Eduafo Yankey thanked the President, Nana Addo Dankwa-Akufo Addo for the confidence bestowed upon members and assured that their works will be effectively discharged as water is dear and of importance to Ghanaians.

“Team of experts will be assigned to work and revamp the Agency to bring in the needed revenue for government to revive the water sector and will work assiduously to support government flagship programmes like the 1 District 1 Factory (1D1F) as well as government Agenda 111 of constructing healthcare facilities across the country of which the supply water will play a pivotal role”, he said.

Mr. Kwesi Yankey called on all NGOs working in the water sector to partner with the Agency to enable it have a clear cut data on their operations and to support them when there is a breakdown of systems and structures while operating in their respective fields of works.
