As part of the Proactive Preventive Policing Strategy, the K-9 Unit of the Ghana Police Service, yesterday, on October 18th 2021, with renewed energy, has commenced its outdoor operations.

For the past couple of weeks, personnel with highly-trained security dogs under leash have been strategically positioned across the Capital for operational patrols.

Ready to fight crime

This component of policing is aimed at increasing the visibility of personnel, improving intelligence gathering, tracking of contraband goods and improving upon other aspects of criminal investigations.

The Police Administration has with immediate effect stated that, Plans are underway to extend this component of Police visibility to other regions to combat crime across the country.

Meanwhile, the police shall continue to pursue multiple Security and Visibility Modules to increase their interactions with the public and aggressively fight crime in our communities.

 

This is believed to be some of the mechanisms the new Inspector of Police, Dr. Dampare intends to fight crime in the country.

Crime rates over some months now have been high especially in the capital city, Accra and other parts of the country which according to security experts, it is alarming and worrying.

Therefore the introduction of this mechanism by the Ghana Police Service under the leadership of Dr. Dampare have been applauded by Ghanaians and believe this will reduce crime activities in the capital, Accra
