Dutch giants, Ajax Amsterdam wont risk releasing Ghana ace Mohammed Kudus for next year’s Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon, GHANASoccernet.com can authoritatively report.

The European heavyweights are worried by the fitness of the midfielder who picked an injury while playing for the Black Stars in the World Cup qualifier against South Africa.

The 21-year-old has battled a series of injuries since joining the club from FC Nordsjaelland in the summer of 2020.

And ahead of the Nations Cup in 2021, which could be his first, Ajax are not ready to release him.

Mohammed Kudus was named in coach Milovan Rajevac’s 30-man squad despite being unfit.

GHANASoccernet.com earlier reported the midfielder will miss AFCON due to the injury and it looks increasingly likely.

Ajax manager Erik Ten Hag wants the player to stay and continue his rehabilitation as he hopes Kudus makes a return before the season ends.

Kudus has made only eight appearances across all competitions this season, scoring two goals.

Meanwhile, the Black Stars will camp in Doha for a period of 17 days to prepare for the tournament which kicks off on Sunday, January 9, 2022.

Ghana are expected to play three friendly matches in Qatar before they emplane to Cameroon for the tournament.

The Black Stars are housed in the same Group with Morocco, Comoros and Gabon and will open their campaign against Morocco a day after the opening ceremony.
